World News Day

The World Editors Forum, WAN-IFRA and the Canadian Journalism Foundation are organizing a global campaign on World News Day to promote the value of fact-based journalism. The campaign aims to increase the number of individuals and organizations who are committed to the value of news and information. Organizers hope to attract 500 news organizations to participate in the campaign.

World news is not a specific specialization for journalists in the United States, although most of the world has a strong concentration on it. In the United States, the distinction between “national” and “world” news is blurred, with national news generally referring to news from a country’s government or institutions, and wars and multilateral organization summits considered national news.
